This afternoon we visited Thomas Jefferson's Monticello. The grounds are a study in contrasts — with the former president's love of science and culture set to a backdrop of slavery. +
Jenn took us around town today. We checked out Downtown Lynchburg, visited Shep's office (where I did some identity work decades ago) and ended the night at the high school orchestra performance. +
Took the leisurely way up to Lynchburg. This would prove to be a very pretty and most mellow path of the trip. Got there and stayed up late. +

There were so many good moments packed into this first stop. Food, friends, games, conversation a'plenty and attempts to make friends with pets. + photos
I think I've figured out the best Golf experience. Each hole would start with a Topgolf driving range situation where you don't need to find your balls. Then there's an off-road course with golf carts to get to a fanciful putt putt...
Hit the road early so we could make it in time for the Holly Arts & Crafts Festival in Pinehurst. Our goal was to get there before all the flowers sold out. + photos
Hit the road a bit after 1pm and headed directly to Milton, West Virginia. When we arrived at Blenko we had less than an hour to browse the store and small museum upstairs. + photos
Edie knows something is up. She senses it when the luggage is brought out. It is this evening we begin to lock in plans for our trip. +

Other photos to show the size of the pizza (or conversely the baby) were in focus, but this one had the best expression.
