I am reviewing this late, but this is the first gear that I bought when I decided to restart motorcycling. I still think that, after you get a decent helmet (in my case, borrowed), you should get a decent pair of gloves. I have never bought or worn motorcycle riding gloves. I have had a pair of regular gloves that I...

Bangalore has suddenly turned very cold, apparently due to a cold wave. It’s been at least 4 to 5 degrees colder in the early mornings. I had a bit of a temperature, a cold, and a sore throat most of the week, thanks to the weather and Uma. School kids are super spreaders. I missed a workout and game day. Uma,...

I have not ridden a motorcycle for than a couple of kilometers since my neck pain started. Now, I don’t have pain. But I wanted to take a test ride with a heavier helmet before I go on my planned long ride. Also, I have not taken Yamaha on a long ride. And I had not been to Manju’s farm, which is around 80+ miles...

It’s been a good week. I have made good progress in general. I continued with my workouts as planned and played Pickleball on Wednesday. We played five games in 90 minutes. We’re all getting better and have started enjoying the game more now. Work has been hectic to say the least. I have been constantly talking to...

For me, work means utilizing all available tools, knowledge, and options to achieve a goal. You will need to dedicate time and effort regularly to acquire or to become better at them. Sometimes, in specific projects, these tools, methods or pieces of knowledge aren’t ready, complete, or acceptable. You adapt, do...

We are in November already. Only about seven weeks are left in 2025. It’s been running fast, but at least it seems to be ending on a good note with Zohran Mamdani winning NYC. The Bihar elections have started. I don’t know which way it will go, but it’s good to see large...

You don’t often get the chance to hear Nobel Laureates live. When the opportunity arose in the form of the Nobel Prize Dialogue, The Future We Want, I applied. I wasn’t expecting to receive an invitation. I had assumed that there would be a lot of young people and would prefer folks under...

Dramatiq uses JSON as the messaging format, and the sender or caller of the Job doesn’t need to have access to the Actor or know a lot about it. This has a considerable advantage. Once you set up the workers to execute the Job, all that is needed is to call the Job...

It was a hectic week, with short trips and numerous meetings to kick-start the work. There are many things slated to go live in the new year, so the year-end seems hectic.

For a long time, I have been using Celery to do background tasks. It does work, but has limitations. Limitations become apparent when you teach it to someone or when someone new tries to use it. So I am always looking for simple (not trivial) and easier ways to achieve this. I have...

We are back in Bengaluru. We drove back on Sunday, so traffic would be light since it was in the middle of the long weekend. The drive was comfortable. We took three breaks, primarily for me and Echo to stretch. Back from a slow Deepavali weekend, work is getting hectic as we approach...

If you are a tiny business wo/man, there are literally no easy payment products to sell online. They all need registration, KYC, complex setups, etc. This is even when you have a valid bank account. There are also platform and transaction fees. In such scenarios, I see most people receive money on UPI...
