Britt Coxon

Hi, I’m Britt Coxon (she/her or they/them). I’m a multidisciplinary visual artist based in North East England, making things for web and print. Things I do include painting illustration, graphic design, websites, papercraft, music, photography, comics and zines. My work has a collaborative and communication focus, often resulting from workshops, consultations with educators or interactions with the public. My work explores communication, mental health, self-empowerment, community and understanding. I love working both digitally and with pen and paper, the most satisfying part of my work is being able to combine analogue and digital in interesting ways to create something unique.

My garden is full of happy bees. No such thing as a weed.
So my sketchbook was almost exclusively sketchnotes during January. But what did I do in next? 30/30 Pretty weird to hold a 30 day challenge in a 28 day month, but that’s what happened in February. I’ve already shared some of the pieces...
Back in January (I know it’s May now, I’ve been in a doing rather than documenting kind of mood for the last few months – I honestly thought I’d already made this blog post) I joined in with World Sketchnote Week. I really enjoyed...
I have a lot of cardboard, I enjoyed making this ripped piece into art. I used a combination of different paint markers for this. I bought some super cheap ones from a discount shop so that I wouldn’t worry about destroying the nibs. I...
I drew this from a photo of Derwentwater taken by my partner’s sister. Digital drawing using Sketchbook on my tablet. There’s a lovely brush called tattoo inker that I used for the outlines. It feels very nice to draw with. I actually...
Do I just keep numbering these? Do I call them something better than links? Findings sounds nicer. So what have I seen this time? Teresa Watts has been sharing her art. I enjoyed Shopping – it’s warm and glows, the light makes these...
Sunday Zine Club #21’s theme was splash. I decided to gather my pictures of children playing in the rain and use them to tell a little story. I’m still getting used to using a fude style fountain pen but I am enjoying the results. I’ve...

I mentioned in my last post that I’ve been experimenting with different ways of digital drawing, leaning towards a more opaque painting style for colour than I usually would. I’m enjoying the results. My obsession with birds continues....

I realised I had tabs open on my laptop. My Gripes With The Artist’s way by Andromeda Zines. I’m hardly the first person to point out some of these issues but I wanted to throw my hat into the ring regardless. In a world that pushes...
This blog post format has no standards. Here are some nice things I’ve been holding onto in the form of open tabs or things added to bookmarks for slightly too long. Blogs get philosophical “TO THE GREATER GLORY OF GOD” by ArtLung. The...
