I have published seven NLJ articles in the previous two weeks. I want everyone to admire the kind of variety I’m bringing to the internet writing table: 02/10/2026: AI Game Worlds and Humane Games (AI, video game development) 02/13/2026: The Positive Case for Good Tech (advocating for good tech) 02/14/2026:...
I have a Pixelfed account that I use to share better quality versions of photos I post to New Leaf Journal (and more rarely this site). Back in 2021, I published an article about how to follow my Pixelfed account using its ATOM feed. It did “well” when I published it (one of my three most successful articles at the...
Unlike Alphabet, I have never run the world’s largest video hosting service. I am, however, the administrator of two of the internet’s most popular websites (you’re reading one, check out the other). Based on my expert experience, I believe that YouTube is either down because of caching or DNS. I Hear YouTube Is...
Quoted Murena Volla Tablet ships with /e/OS (de-Googled Android) by Brad Linder (Liliputing) The Murena Volla Tablet sells for 698€ in Europe, or $798 in the US, and the tablet comes with a 2-year warranty. That’s… a lot of money for a tablet with mid-range specs. But it’s the same price Volla charges for the Volla...

I was sent a video of a deer eating a begonia. I thought to myself that begonias do not sound like ideal deer food. According to Coast Redwood Adventures, begonias are a deer-resistant plant. Granting the caveats in the CRA article that deer-resistant is not deer-proof, I have reason to question the deer resistance...
Quoted Viral Deepfake Demo Prompts ByteDance to Limit New AI Video Tool by He Qitong (Sixth Tone) Within just three days of release, Chinese tech giant and TikTok owner ByteDance has temporarily restricted features in its new generative video model. The company announced changes after a popular content creator...
Bookmarked The tool, the craft, and the joy by Wojtek Powiertowski (behindtheviewfinder.com) If your identity as a technologist is primarily defined by what you're against, against corporate exploitation, against AI, against whatever's new, then you've handed the thing you oppose the power to define you. You become...
Quoted Audio transcript of: Chinese Nationals Sentenced to 46 Years in Prison for 'Cyber-Terrorism' in Nigeria by Frances Martel (breitbart.com) The two men processed this week, Huang Haoyu and An Hongxu, were sentenced to serve 46 years in prison each and are mandated to serve three days of community service...
Atlus is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Persona series. I have played through Persona 3 FES, Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 5 (Persona 5 Royal and Persona 3 Reload are on my to-do list). Suffice it to say, I am a fan of the latter three Persona entries (I have yet to play...
