PHP reminds me of Log4Shell in 2021. Back then the CVE even had a 10/10 rating. Interactions & Comments

Inspired by Matthias Pfefferle, I also just implemented JS-based rendering for the sitemap.xml, which was using XLST until recently. XLST broke when I made the Content-Security-Policy in GoBlog more restrictive. Given XLST is deprecated anyway, I switched to CSS, but that’s more limited. JS-based rendering works...

I have a lot of fun with self-hosting lately. It got much easier with the help of AI. After tackling and improving music self-hosting, it was finally time to find an adequate solution for my AI chats. Previously I mainly used Gemini, then Mistral Vibe (Le Chat). But I’m not happy with having just another...

The last vacation made me want a better camera than the one in my phone. Especially one with a telephoto lens, so I could take pictures of animals from a safe distance. Today we were at a wildlife park and I was able to take some portraits of some residents with the camera I bought. Here are my favorites, all...

Two new additions to my self-hosted music setup today: Multi-Scrobbler: I created an account on ListenBrainz and now scrobble to Last.fm and ListenBrainz. Maybe I get more recommendations with accounts on both platforms. Multi-Scrobbler seems to be the perfect tool to keep the scrobbles in sync. Koito: A little...

For no apparent reason, I wasn’t in the best mood for the last few days, but today I planned to do a bike ride, and it paid off, as it often does. Riding while the sun is already setting is nice. Interactions & Comments

I haven’t soldered anything since school. When we decluttered the flat some years ago, I gave away all the soldering gear of my dad. But this year, I finally soldered again. I upgraded my electric toothbrush with a much bigger battery, going from an aging 700 mAh to 2300 mAh. As we have three of those Braun / Oral-B...

One year since I bought myself an Android tablet: the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Lite. It was definitely worth it. I use it a lot. Mostly watching videos and reading the newspaper (which a little n8n workflow downloads every day from the library), but also the occasional web surfing and research session or writing blog...

I mentioned in my last monthly review that I’m currently switching from Deezer (my streaming alternative after the previous cheap YouTube Premium trick stopped working) to a self hosted music setup. I first tried Nextcloud Music, as I already have Nextcloud, a Storage Share at Hetzner, so I just created a new folder...

There’s no way to deny it’s already autumn, even though it’s still 20 degrees. Interactions & Comments

And here we go again; another month has passed, and the year is flying by. Now that it’s getting colder again, even though there were a few warm days in between, I’ve only gone on my bike a few times. Let’s see if I can use all my cold-weather cycling gear again soon. Instead, I’ve dedicated more time to my tech...
