I used to think that reading would make me wise. One day, ten pages before finishing a book, I realized that I had read that same book before. At that point, my perspective on reading and, therefore, my life had changed. Now, I don’t care how many books I read; I take many notes, connect dots, and share what I’ve found on my blog and newsletter. I’m interested in many things at the same time (I’m a multipotentialite). On this blog, you’ll find me talking to about multiple aspects of life like leadership, software engineering, philosophy, psychology, software architecture & design, urban & industrial design, exercising, finance, Formula1 Racing, eating healthy, and many more. I’m a software engineering manager; that’s my current job. At home, I’m a writer and an avid reader. I rarely watch TV, movies or TV series. I don’t have any social media account (except Mastodon where I have automated posting of my new articles). Hence, I often miss the popular culture references in conversations. That’s alright. I don’t have FOMO; I embrace JOMO. I rarely read fictional books.

Software engineering as we used to know it is dead. AI condensed the code-writing step of the process from days to minutes. Engineers found themselves having many tasks on their plates, running many agents in parallel. They are burning...
Many people are struggling to understand what they think about AI and how to approach it. Perhaps the bigger problem is that the technology is not fully deterministic but probabilistic. I quite like the framing of the idea Dan presents:...
Recently, I learned what “disagree and commit” truly means, a concept everyone struggles with a lot. Committing to an idea that you disagree with is difficult. Or, let’s say it was, until today. The idea is that you may disagree with...
I never understood what people meant by “strategic thinking” or “being strategic.” I couldn’t accept the feedback when I heard “you need to think more strategically” as well. Nobody could explain what that “strategic” word meant. I...
Managers Returning to "Coding" with AI We have been talking with other engineering leaders around me about the impact of AI in our profession. Although nobody knows what will happen, I kept thinking about where I'm standing and what...
The tighter the connection between business strategy and technical design, the easier for a software engineer to understand and implement. The more apparent this knowledge is, the easier for the AI to pick up and apply the principles and...
Mediations is a newsletter I write for software engineers and leaders but I never focus solely on software engineering. This is a newsletter for humans trying to mediate the challenges life presents, so the topics are as wide as it gets....
I keep researching to learn how to invest the 10€ I put aside every month. Everyone I asked tells me different things: real estate, funds, commodities, bitcoin, stocks, bonds, savings accounts, all are on the table. I keep thinking and...
I started using Devin for Code Reviews. I must say that it’s pretty good. I develop using Claude Code. It pushes changes, Devin reviews. Then I hook Claude Code to address the comments automatically (there is a checkbox in the Claude...
I recently read the following text in the book Co-Intelligence by Ethan Mollick. "You are not only a human, but also a cyborg. You are a cyborg because you use machines to enhance your abilities and extend your senses. You use computers...
I couldn’t send the last few Mediations due to sickness and not getting enough rest to recover fully. I kept telling myself that I should write and send something, but I didn’t want to send anything half-baked. Also, I realized that I...
I might be late to the game but I’ve been developing a personal iOS app I have wanted for years, but never had the time or chance to dedicate a few weeks to. In a few hours, I have a functional app and I only need to tweak a few things...
I have a long-standing argument that passes the test of time. A product should do one main job and do it well. When it tries to do more, it often does none well. It's tough to do one thing exceptionally well, let alone two. If we...
Last week, I saw a message from December 18th in our team’s Slack channel. It mentioned a minor bug that affects only a few users. The team responded, “Let me create a ticket, and we’ll prioritize accordingly.” You can guess the story;...
I’ve been part of boy-scouts for only three days in my life. I always admired them, but wasn’t able to keep up the discipline of regularly joining when I was a little boy. As much as I enjoyed nature, I preferred active sports. In my...
